I was raised on a farm in Chickasaw County, where we farmed (corn, beans, oats and hay) we also had 120 milk cows without the benefit of a pipeline and I carried all of the milk to the bulk tank. I am the oldest Daughter of 6 children to Jake & Kathleen Schwennen. I have lived in Iowa all of my life, and have lived in Muscatine County since 1976
I have been employed as a Certified Geriatric Nurse’s Aide, worked at Heinz USA & served as the local Union Stewart, owned and operated my own business ‘Kelly’s Upholstery’ for 12 years. I was also the “Rose Lady” for 7 years. From 1998 I have been the Executive Director of Muscatine Safe Streets INC. I am also employed by the Iowa State University as a Parent Facilitator for the Strengthening Families Program, and an observer for the Project Alert Program.
I am also the Program Coordinator for the: Iowa SAFE Communities Program
I have a certification in Volunteer Management, and I am a Mandatory Reporter
I am the President of the: Muscatine Health Association since 2002 board member since 1999
I was an active member of the Muscatine Empowerment Board (1998-2003 / President 2001 & 2002)
Appointed by Mayor Richard O’Brien to the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Committee in 2000 – to present
