Greetings,
A member of the Democratic Party took these pictures at two different parades that we have been in. So far we
have been in SIX Parades (Atalissa, Letts, Muscatine 4th of July, Grandview, Muscatine County Fair in West
Liberty, Muscatine Great River Days) and have three left. (Conesville, Wilton, Durant) Thanks for the pictures
Steve!! These are fantastic!
For those of you that have not seen our entourage – the banner that is put on the vehicles (just one vehicle per
parade) was made by me and repaired after a rained on parade and a washing, by Bradley and myself. The
White ‘banner carrier’ is Eric and Angie’s – they have been great help with the campaign, helping in parades and
great support. An extra bonus of the parades - I am very, very proud to show off my family.
The gold ‘banner carrier’ is Greg and Mandy Hills – they are also the PROUD parents of our ‘escort bicycles’ what
a pair those two are!!!! Greg and Mandy also have a son (not pictured) that has been great help and has enlisted
a friend to also help with candy and ‘cowgirl cards’ getting handed out at parades. This entire family has been the
solid core of the campaign. Without their help we would not be as organized or as confident in our successful
outcome (WE ARE GOING TO WIN THIS THING!).
The young gentlemen in the purple golf cart only get to join us in the Muscatine parades as we are not able to
haul two carts at one time. They are our neighbor kids – Bradley and Jacob. They ride their golf cart up and
down the alley or ‘back street’ all the time. They painted and fixed it up real nice in order to join us in the parades,
what fun we have had with that. They also asked a friend to join us to help hand out candy at the Great River
Days Parade. (Little blonde sitting in the back of the cart)
Now, the golf cart that I am riding in with Joe as my chauffeur belongs to his brother Dan. Bless his heart for
letting us use that golf cart!!!! With my back as bad as it has been, there is NO WAY that I would be able to walk
the parade routes. Using the golf carts would not be possible at all without the use of the trailer that is provided
by Eric’s Dad – Whitey Werner. Just to let you all know my back will get better, it has been a long and painful
summer, but Dr. Krueger tells me that this will not last forever. I am doing traction twice a day for fifteen minutes
each.
All in all what we provide in a single parade takes a lot of help and volunteering by a large number of people in
order for this campaign to succeed.
The total entourage is a vehicle with a banner on each side, bicycle escorts, two golf carts (when possible) with
yard signs and US Flags, and walkers to hand out candy and cowgirl cards. Ok, Ok they are called COWBOY
cards by the Democratic Party, but you know me, so we call them COWGIRL CARDS – just live with it !!!!!
Thank you - to everyone for all of your support,
Love you all,
Kas
